Hi, I’m Kayla Torres. I started in the bookish world as a reader when I started my bookstagram account during the pandemic as a postpartum mom looking to connect with other readers. I started posting reviews, sharing my current reads, and the books I couldn’t stop talking about. Years later, I have now had the honor of working with various authors and publishers as a reviewer and screener.

I am passionate about sharing and prioritizing books by marginalized voices that have too often had their voices minimized within the publishing world. My favorite genres include poetry, nonfiction, romance, and fiction.

I do not support work that upholds racism, white supremacy, ableism, or the patriarchy. I will also not promote any work that is created using AI.

Apart from working as a publicist, I manage social media for an indie press, continue to review books on Instagram as @the.bookish.mama, and I work PRN as a RN.

I live in South Texas with my loving husband and wonderful daughter. I can usually be found with a gluten free snack nearby, and scribbling lines that I think should be a poem.
